Green building includes a combination of building products and fixtures that are considered to be either "low impact" (providing a single green benefit), such as low flush toilets, or "high impact" green products (with multiple benefits), such as Logix Insulated Concrete Forms.

Some of the green benefits of ICF construction include:

What criteria makes a product green?

-Products that save energy or water.
-Products that contribute to a safe, healthy built environment.
-Products made with salvaged, recycled or agricultural waste content.
-Products that avoid toxic or other harmful emissions.
-Products that conserve natural resources.
SAVES ENERGY:  The combination of the LOGIX continuous foam insulation and the thermal mass properties of insulated concrete provide a high thermal resistance wall system that reduces the peak heating and cooling loads of the building. The LOGIX thermal envelope produces an airtight structure and dramatically reduces air leakage, energy use and HVAC requirements.

HEALTHY INDOOR ENVIRONMENT: LOGIX walls will not promote the growth of mold or mildew. In addition, airtight LOGIX buildings make it easier to control and monitor airflow and contaminants. There is also no toxic or harmful emissions to worry about.  In fact, LOGIX Platinum is the only ICF to obtain the GREENGUARD indoor air quality certification. The end result is a healthier, more comfortable environment for the building's occupants.

ICF WALLS ARE DURABLE:  Concrete walls are one of the most durable building materials available and are designed to last for centuries. LOGIX walls are stronger than conventional wood-framed constructed walls and are able to withstand the damaging effects of strong winds.

LOGIX USES RECYCLED MATERIAL:   LOGIX foam panels are made from up to 10% recycled EPS. LOGIX webs are made of 100% recycled polypropylene.

MINIMAL ON-SITE WASTE:  Any on-site waste can be fully recycled.

LOGIX HAS MULTIPLE MANUFACTURING FACILITIES: LOGIX has manufacturing facilities throughout North America and Europe. This reduces the need for the transportation/delivery of manufactured product to distant job site destinations. The concrete is obtained through local suppliers.

CONTRIBUTES TO THE PROTECTION OF OUR NATURAL RESOURCES: by using less wood for the construction of buildings.
ICF CONSTRUCTION &
ENERGY STAR CERTIFICATION

An ICF building can easily attain a HERS Score of less than 40 due to the highly energy efficient, air tight shell, qualifying the building for Energy Star certification, a federal tax credit and often times additional rebates from state and local government agencies and utility companies, as well as special financing for energy efficient mortgages.  RSDC is proud to have made the commitment to have every home Energy Star certified!

ICF CONSTRUCTION &
LEED CERTIFICATION

LOGIX ICF's can contribute up to 31 LEED-NC Points, including all 19 under Energy and Atmosphere Credit 1 (plus additional points allotted for the GreenGuard indoor air quality when seeking a LEED for schools certification).

ICF CONSTRUCTION &
FGBC CERTIFICATION

FGBC (Florida Green Building Coalition) certification is easier to obtain when the building is constructed with ICF's which make a significant contribution to the points required in the Energy, Health, Materials and Disaster Mitigation categories.

TO BOLDLY GO TO NET-ZERO AND BEYOND  -
MORE THAN JUST "GREEN" BUILDING

Put simply, a  net-zero building is one that produces more energy than it consumes each month. In order to achieve this, the building's envelope must be highly energy efficient.  A Logix ICF building, combined with cost-effective renewable energy generation such as solar panels, is the solution to building commercially viable zero energy buildings.  In fact, the team at Rock Solid Design & Construction has a net-zero residence under construction in Tallahassee!   This residence will include an ICF shell, Low-E windows and doors, SIP'S panel roof, geothermal system, Energy Star appliances and LED lighting, Solar PV panels, rainwater collection system, native landscaping, low VOC paints and more!  This residence has been designed to sell power back to the grid every month, instead of buying it!

Now THAT's more than just "GREEN"building!

Rock Solid Design & Construction, Inc. is a proud member of the following organizations:

Green Builders! Building green, durable, highly energy efficient ICF homes and offices in Tallahassee, Leon, Crawfordville, Wakulla, Gadsden, Jefferson, Franklin and Gulf County, Florida, including St. George Island, Port St. Joe, Apalachicola, Shell Point and St. Marks.
